Privacy policy

What we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can get away with.

Note: this policy describes how the site is configured as published. It is written to be accurate rather than exhaustive, and it is not legal advice. Operators deploying this site should have it reviewed against the jurisdictions they serve.

Who we are

FPSing publishes editorial coverage of first-person shooters at https://fpsing.com. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@fpsing.com.

What we collect

Reading the site

You do not need an account to read FPSing, and we do not ask you to create one. There is no login, no profile, and no comment system.

Our hosting provider processes standard server request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp — as an unavoidable part of serving a web page, and to protect against abuse. This is handled by the host under their own terms.

Analytics

Analytics is disabled unless a provider is configured by the site operator. Where it is enabled, we use a privacy-respecting, aggregate measurement setup and record only product events — that a search happened and how many results it returned, that a game hub was opened, that an article was read to the end, that an outbound tool link was followed.

We do not build profiles of individual readers, do not sell data, and do not share it with advertising networks. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, no analytics event is recorded.

Newsletter

If you subscribe, we store the email address you give us and pass it to the email provider configured by the operator, solely to send the newsletter. We do not use it for anything else, we do not sell or share it, and every email contains an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes your address.

We use a hidden form field and a submission-timing check to filter automated signups. Neither identifies you.

Email

If you write to us, we keep the message so we can respond and so we have a record of corrections raised. Correction correspondence may be retained indefinitely as part of the editorial record; other messages are kept only as long as needed.

Cookies

FPSing sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own. See our cookie policy for the detail.

Legal basis

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on: consent for the newsletter, which you may withdraw at any time; and legitimate interests for serving and securing the site and for aggregate, non-identifying measurement of how it is used.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, or withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email privacy@fpsing.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

FPSing is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

External links

We link to other sites, including Raiderism and CODZombie. Once you follow a link you are on their site under their privacy policy, not ours.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the review date on this page changes with it. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
