Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can get away with.
Note: this policy describes how the site is configured as published. It is written to be accurate rather than exhaustive, and it is not legal advice. Operators deploying this site should have it reviewed against the jurisdictions they serve.
Who we are
FPSing publishes editorial coverage of first-person shooters at https://fpsing.com. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@fpsing.com.
What we collect
Reading the site
You do not need an account to read FPSing, and we do not ask you to create one. There is no login, no profile, and no comment system.
Our hosting provider processes standard server request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp — as an unavoidable part of serving a web page, and to protect against abuse. This is handled by the host under their own terms.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) and Ahrefs Web Analytics to measure, in aggregate, how the site is used — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and which devices they use. Google Analytics sets cookies and assigns your browser a randomly generated identifier; that data is processed by Google under its own terms. Ahrefs is cookie-free and stores nothing on your device.
We use this only in aggregate: we do not build profiles of individual readers for our own use, do not sell data, and do not share it with advertising networks. You can opt out of Google Analytics — see the cookie policy.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, we store the email address you give us and pass it to the email provider configured by the operator, solely to send the newsletter. We do not use it for anything else, we do not sell or share it, and every email contains an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes your address.
We use a hidden form field and a submission-timing check to filter automated signups. Neither identifies you.
If you write to us, we keep the message so we can respond and so we have a record of corrections raised. Correction correspondence may be retained indefinitely as part of the editorial record; other messages are kept only as long as needed.
Cookies
FPSing sets analytics cookies through Google Analytics, and no advertising cookies. See our cookie policy for the detail and how to opt out.
Legal basis
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on: consent for the newsletter, which you may withdraw at any time; and legitimate interests for serving and securing the site and for aggregate measurement of how it is used.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, or withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email privacy@fpsing.com. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
FPSing is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
External links
We link to other sites, including Raiderism and CODZombie. Once you follow a link you are on their site under their privacy policy, not ours.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the review date on this page changes with it. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
