Valorant combines round-based tactical shooting with agent abilities, so every map read is both a gunfight problem and a utility problem. The skill ceiling lives in coordination: which ability opens a site, who trades the entry, and what information a single piece of utility is actually buying. Patch 13.04 put Abyss into the Competitive and Deathmatch queues on 18 August and took Breeze out. Abyss is the only Valorant map with no outer boundaries and a death drop in Mid, which makes it the only map in your ranked pool where the geometry itself can end a round.
Abilities in Valorant are not damage, they are purchases — of space, of information, or of time. Sorting your utility into those three categories fixes most of the mistakes players make with it.
